Congratulations Jaegers!

On a local note, congratulations to the Jaegers on the arrival of Jude Thomas Jaeger at around 4:00 p.m. on February 28th. I'm a little unclear on the stats, but I believe they work out to 21.5" and 8 lbs. 7 oz.

Can't wait to meet the little guy!

World of Wheels 2006

World of Wheels 2006 took place at the Qwest Center Omaha this past weekend. Always a great event, I didn't get to go last year, so I was really happy to get the opportunity this year. I've posted a picture gallery of some vehicles that peaked my interest during the show.

Overall, the show seemed smaller this year than it has in years past. I really don't know if it actually was or not, just that it seemed smaller. There was a great representation of classic cars, modifieds, racers, etc. As you can see in the pictures, the Batmobile from the original Batman TV show made an appearance.

My one big beef was that there was way to much floor space devoted to "sound cars", cars whose only claim to fame is the audio/visual systems that have been stuffed into them. It's interesting in a few, but really, there are only so many variations on the theme. I'm wondering if the high percentage of the show-floor space devoted to this was because of lack of entries in the other categories.

And, yes, I did start to long after a 1970 Chevelle again after attending this show.

Happy Spring!

Although the first day of spring came and went yesterday, you wouldn't know it by looking around here. After having a very dry winter with next to no snow, we more than made up for it yesterday.

The Omaha area received about nine inches of snow while areas west of here (Grand Island/Hastings) received 20 inches! Interstate 80 was closed from Lincoln to North Platte. It's not often that happens.

Of course, now a gradual warmup (albeit with a possibility of one last gasp of snow showers on Friday) for the rest of the week and into April. Although we've had a very mild winter, I'm ready for Spring. I'm ready for outdoor time!

Off to Denver. Wife decides to paint.

(Originally meant to be posted Sunday evening).

My company is sending me to a week-long training session in Denver this week. I leave early tomorrow morning.

Basically the training is a leadership development program designed to give people the knowledge and intangible tools to become better leaders in the company and higher levels of management. Although I'm honestly not looking forward to the trip, I'm excited for the opportunity to get this training. I know a few other people who've done this program before and said it really was a good experience.

In the meantime, my wife has decided that she will be painting a few different rooms in the house while I'm gone (the master bedroom and the dining room, in case you're curious). I suppose this is probably a good time for her to do this as I thoroughly despise painting with every fiber of my being. When it comes to remodeling projects, painting is the absolute worst. BLEAH!
