Battlestar Galactica

My excitement level is certainly getting higher and higher as Monday approaches. I've been looking forward to this for a long time (since March, when I first heard that Battlestar Galactica was coming back).

The new mini-series (which, incidentally premiers on the Sci-Fi Channel at 8:00 p.m. CST on Monday) is a "reimagining" of the original series, not a retelling or continuation of the original series. Basically, they are taking some of the basic concepts of the original Battlestar Galactica as well as many of the characters and reinventing them from scratch. The new series is supposedly grittier than the original, darker and more willing to take chances.

I'm even more excited because Ron Moore (of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fame) is involved in the project! As he tells it, he got involved in the project in order to "break the rules" of space opera.

Read through the site linked to above. There is some interesting stuff. I'll post my reaction after I see the mini-series (no word on a series yet...that will probably come after Sci-Fi gets a chance to look at the ratings of the mini).
